MIST0920/HORSENBURGER-TOTORO_UMBRELLA

Mistigram: ChatGPT users are paying money to generate degraded #StudioGhibli imagery while our skilled craftsmen are manually adapting the real McCoy and giving it away for free.  You can't beat this @horsenburger #teletext portrait of #Totoro waiting at a rainy bus stop!  This piece was included in the film-themed MIST0920 artpack collection released five years ago.

MIST0920/FARRELL_LEGO-PRINCESS_MONONOKE

Mistigram: continuing our spree of celebrating #StudioGhibli creations for no immediately apparent reason, here's a #Lego #pixelart portrait of #San aka #MononokeHime from #PrincessMononoke, built by @farrell_lego and included in the film-themed MIST0920 artpack collection released five years ago.

MIST0920/HORSENBURGER-PORCO_ROSSO

Mistigram: Who would arrogantly presume to ice the #StudioGhibli cake with AI when the perfect genuine article is right there? Here's a #teletext picture of #PorcoRosso after a fight, drawn by @horsenburger. This piece was included in the film-themed MIST0920 artpack collection released five years ago.

MIST0920/EMME_DOBLE-PONYO_TEA

Mistigram: #StudioGhibli subjects are impossible for an AI to improve on, a source of endless delight when celebrated and reinterpreted by fan artists.  Here's the aquatic #Ponyo swimming around a glass teapot, drawn in #pixelart by @pinkiemme.  This piece was included in the film-themed MIST0920 artpack collection released five years ago.

MIST1116/DIANE_SMITHERS-AIRPLANE

Mistigram: Photographer @DianeSmithers never really understood what we were up to with artpacks (not the only one, I'm sure), framing our project as a species of 'visual art database' (well, she wasn't wrong!), but when I put out a call for submissions to my extensive community of colleagues from decades organizing real-world art events, she didn't let that bafflement stop her from throwing her hat in the ring and sharing some of her art photos with our online audiences. Her involvement with us doesn't rate even a footnote in her CV of incredible arts photography, but as everyone in Vancouver's live music and dance performance communities is taking a moment to process her sudden and unexpected departure, we also must acknowledge our brief time spent working with her. This photograph was included in the MIST1116 artpack collection released nine years ago.

IMBIBE01/JONINSCII-PIZZA

Mistigram: some people measure out their lives with coffee spoons; Joninscii proposed a compelling alternative here, the #ASCIIart #pizza clock. This one isn't a Paper Thin Pizza promo, but I'm sure it's delicious regardless. It was included with the recent food-themed IMBIBE01 e-mag.

IMBIBE01/JACKEY-FOOD

Mistigram: Jackey of Pizzatoe, the most food-named crew out there, made a guest appearance in the recent food-themed IMBIBE01 electronic magazine with this #ANSIart screen of skewered tidbits broiling in #hotpot broth!

IMBIBE01/LITTLEBITSPACE-CHA

Mistigram: before he mastered #ASCIIart, another niche field in which @littlebitspace had steeped was the world of #tea infusion and service.  This piece from his back catalogue represents an overlap of both worlds, yet despite its relative vintage (only four years old!) it is still relatively fresh relatively to the materials from the '90s which it was served up alongside in the time capsule of the new IMBIBE01 electronic magazine about food and drink.

IMBIBE01/TJ-KRAFT_DINNER

Mistigram: the Barenaked Ladies weren't the only ones to sing the praises of that uniquely Canadian culinary phenomenon, the prepackaged preparation of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese they presumed to brand #KraftDinner. This poem honouring the neon orange dish was written way back in the '90s by The Judge about his student days at BCIT, when he basically lived on the stuff, and was included in the new food-themed IMBIBE01 electronic magazine -- basically a time capsule of how the chronically online were eating 30 years ago.

IMBIBE01/CODEFENIX-EYES_OFF_MY_FRIES

Mistigram: you've been eating healthy all week, why not cut loose a bit to celebrate the arrival of the weekend? 'Eyes Off My Fries', a delicious #ANSIart screen by @Codefenix, was included in the recent IMBIBE01 food-themed electronic magazine.

IMBIBE01/CF-MAINMENUART

Mistigram: the Golden Arches are evoked in this Mistigris #ANSIart logo drawn by @codefenix for the recent IMBIBE01 food-themed electronic magazine.  Millions served!  You can try it out via https://16colo.rs/mag/imbibe01Da ... da da da da, I'm lovin' it!

IMBIBE01/ERUPT-BOMB_PRISON_RICE

Mistigram: most cookbooks will take you through granny's tried & true family recipes, but how many of them immortalize the tried & convicted cuisine of young men who've made poor life decisions? Save yourself the hard time and find eRUPT's prison recipe for 'bomb prison rice' in the new Imbibe e-mag.

IMBIBE01/ILLARTERATE-PIE_TIME

Mistigram: I can't presume to speculate why @illarterate drew this #teletext illustration in the first place, but today, #PiDay, is definitely the occasion on which to share it.  This piece was included in the recent food-themed IMBIBE01 electronic magazine.

IMBIBE01/US-PAPERTHIN

Mistigram: originally drawn in #pixelart as part of @grymmjack's "food gang" as seen a few days ago, this saucy character was redrawn in #ANSIart as interface art for the new IMBIBE01 food-themed electronic magazine. We then took things a step further and also used him in a promo for Chicago's #textmode art-loving @paperthinpizza , purveyors of delicious pies and terrible Figlet logos.

IMBIBE01/BLIPPYPIXEL-GLITCH_DOUGHNUT

Mistigram: this dazzling #teletext doughnut, apparently the subject of some species of fabulous glitchy palette corruption, was drawn by @blippypixel and included with the new IMBIBE01 food-themed e-mag!

IMBIBE01/JONINSCII-TOAST

Mistigram: @Joninscii's animated #ASCIIart illustration of a piece of #bread getting browned in a #toaster was probably originally meant as commentary on people getting tanned in the summer, but it also fit the food theme of our recent IMBIBE01 electronic magazine to a T!

IMBIBE01/CODEFENIX-BK_LOGO

Mistigram: Wendy's may be the only fast food chain to print #ASCIIart burgers on their receipts, but if you could eat one at #BurgerKing truly you could #HaveItYourWay. Until then, this newschool logo by @Codefenix will have to suffice. (As seen in the new IMBIBE01 electronic magazine!)

MIST0919/HORSENBURGER-MARIO-YOSHI

Mistigram: we exhausted our stash of fanart of the sainted plumber himself a long time ago, but we still have many specimens celebrating his extended social circle to ring out #MAR10 with -- here, enjoy this @horsenburger #teletext portrait of #Yoshi, included in the games-themed MIST0919 artpack collection released six years ago!

IMBIBE01/GJ-FOOD_GANG

Mistigram: when @grymmjack heard we were planning a food-related release (the new IMBIBE01 e-mag), he prepared an incredible #pixelart spread! I don't know if the members of this 'food gang' are going to go quietly, but even if not... it's going to work up quite an appetite!

IMBIBE01/DOSDOC-NANNY_OGG'S_COOKBOOK

Mistigram: @Dosdoc was keen to provide #ANSIart illustration for our food-themed IMBIBE01 electronic magazine, just released, but couldn't resist giving it a literary spin, so here's his adaptation of #PaulKidby's cover art to #TerryPratchett's 1999 #NannyOggsCookbook.  Have a taste via https://16colo.rs/mag/imbibe01 !

MIST0319/WEBERSSO.N-SISTERLOVE

Mistigram: this #perlerbeads physical #pixelart composition, "Sisterlove", was made by @webersso.n and included in the all-women MIST0319 artpack collection released six years ago this month. Happy #InternationalWomensDay!

IMBIBE01/PE-EGGS

Mistigram: of course, you can't have a magazine about food without featuring a few recipes. Publius Enigma surely thought he'd trolled us good when he posted this hash cookie recipe, translated from the lyrics to #Tool's #DieEierVonSatan, to the Tabnet food echomail base circa 1998. Well played, sir! (However, I am told that, alas, the cookies don't really bind together without the eggs.)

This recipe was included in the new IMBIBE01 electronic magazine.

IMBIBE01/CT-IMBIBE

Mistigram: racking his brain for period food-themed art to adapt to #ANSIart in order to celebrate the new IMBIBE01 e-mag release of food-themed articles and captures from the turn of the century, Cthulu's mind went back to #DonHertzfeldt's Oscar-winning 2000 short #Rejected. #MySpoonIsTooBig! #IAmABanana!

IMBIBE01 art mosaic

Mistigram: also served as a side with our newly-released Imbibe food-themed e-mag is a tasting flight of other delicious text and semigraphics art - here is a sampling of some tasty #teletext and #ASCIIart, an Xbin and a #BBCMicro high resolution graphics screen.  Check it out at https://16colo.rs/mag/imbibe01

IMBIBE01 ANSI art mosaic

Mistigram: there's a lot of new food-themed #ANSIart in the interface and art gallery submenu of our newly-released Imbibe e-mag... but the only way to see it is by running its MS-DOS executable. (Or waiting for us to get impatient and post it to social media!) Go, check it out via https://16colo.rs/mag/imbibe01

MIST0121/BLIPPYPIXEL-303

Mistigram: March 3rd is 3/03, so today technoheads celebrate the #Roland #TB303 Bass Line synthesizer. Here is one illustrated in #teletext by @blippypixel, as seen in the music-themed MIST0121 artpack collection released four years ago. Happy #303Day!

IMBIBE01 FILE_ID.DIZ

Mistigram: Odd drew us this constrained #SteamedHams #ANSIart tribute to use as the FILE_ID.DIZ for our 'new' debut issue of Imbibe, an MS-DOS food-and-drink themed electronic magazine that's been on our back burner since 1998.  For a taste you can try it out via https://16colo.rs/mag/imbibe01
