Mistigram: still with the books-themed MIST0426 on the brain, Cthulu recently stumbled across a copy of #BruceSterling's seminal #Mirrorshades #cyberpunk anthology in a used bookstore, and took it as a sign from The Algorithm to adapt its evocative cover artwork to #ANSIart for the recent science fiction-themed MIST0526 artpack collection.

Mistigram: plus ça change... today Count Binface is campaigning against Nigel Farage in Clacton, but nine years ago it was his predecessor #LordBuckethead running against Theresa May in Maidenhead. One item on his manifesto was the return of Ceefax, so #teletext artists, in this case @illarterate, were only too keen to boost his campaign. This screen was included in the MIST0717 artpack collection released nine years ago this month.

Here is a #teletext portrait by @atonalosprey from that collection of one of the titans of the genre, #ArthurCClarke, famous for writing Childhood's End, Rendezvous with Rama, and of course 2001: A Space Odyssey.

 Mistigram: sometimes you get far enough into your preliminary layout of an #ANSIart adaptation that you realise, gulp, this is going to be more small-scale than I thought, maybe I should cut and run. Saner artists do, but Cthulu has a "sunk cost fallacy" way of hanging in to the bitter end and seeing it through. Anyway, this is his take on #BruceJensen's iconic cover art to the 1993 paperback edition of #NealStephenson's #cyberpunk novel #SnowCrash, in the background, #TheGrid, in the foreground, the world's tiniest #HiroProtagonist. It was drawn for the new science fiction-themed MIST0526 artpack collection(, though while apparently still in a MIST0426 frame of mind!)

 Mistigram: as an American participating in a European demoparty (and with their fursona leading the parade), The Green Herring went with a "we come in peace" theme for this #ANSIart scroller, "Greetings, Earthlings!", which placed 6th (top third!) in the text art compo in this year's Revision demoparty.  Mistigram: in different ancient cultures the #lotus signifies different things -- in India, perfection and enlightenment; in Greece, hedonism and addiction. You may need to decide for yourself which one @mavenmob was alluding to (if not both!) in this #ANSIart illustration of the flower melting away into the Matrix. This piece was included in the new science fiction-themed MIST0526 artpack collection.

 Mistigram: Cthulu dutifully traced the monochrome poster art to Fritz Lang's 1927 German expressionist film #Metropolis as #blockASCII, then hesitated, contemplating its opening logo -- starts with an M... ends with an S... also contains a T, an I, an R... well heck, he thought, there's nearly already everything here needed to make a Mistigris logo out of, and then I could use it as an infofile header! Ultimately it did appear in exactly that way in the new science fiction-themed MIST0526 artpack collection.

 Mistigram: a technocratic society in which elite underground hackers earn credits for drawing radical text art illustrations may feel distinctly retrofuturistic, but nonetheless ZII (Zeus II) has established his AAC (#ANSIArt Corporation) from which you can commission screens and scrollers at competitive rates.  Mistigram: to tell the truth, we haven't the foggiest idea when or even if we included this #BBCMicro high resolution graphics landscape by @blippypixel in an artpack, but if we did it would have been back in the twenty teens when our paths first crossed. But as we have since shared over a thousand screens by him, why not one more? This cavern features a little rainbow, we like to think for Pride.
