For today’s Mistigram lunch, let’s be frank about monsters: they’re just metaphors for the monstrous acts of ordinary people. Hence, @jellica_______ has drawn this #ASCIIart inspired #teletext portrait of British PM #TheresaMay, which we included in the fresh MIST1017 artpack collection. She also made an appearance in last year’s Halloween pack, quietly slipped in along with a couple of other politicians taking their rightful place among serial killers and things that go bump in the night. (Farange has since left the podium, but sadly the other two maniacs remain at the helm, intent on sending their ships of state down with all hands aboard.) http://ift.tt/2haLFAq

Today on Mistigram, a rhyming story of a haunted type-in BASIC program listing. The most terrifying thing of all - #poetry in an artpack! Traditionally present in the artscene sphere as a kind of creative underclass (not respected but a well-turned set of couplets could still garner you leech access at a warez board - er, or so they tell me!) literature was a major force in Mist Classic (a consequence of so much of the artscene being primarily conducted in the textual environments of BBSes and the IRC using CLI operating systems like MS-DOS and Linux) but only a very rare occurrence since the revival. Though Cthulu shared a lit in the most recent Fuel artpack and though his illustrated lit collaborations with Otium in Galza-22 set the stage for the Mist revival, this marks the first time Cthulu has released a new piece of “lit” in a Mist pack since the end of our first run in 1998. Yes, this doggerel is positively historical! (Wasn’t even his idea - textart god @sevendxs, of all people, suggested a lit to fill up the space between his ANSI art logo and the text of the MIST1017 infofile. Yes, hell must have frozen over! 8) http://ift.tt/2yPDx1Q

The Mistigram lunchtime post today is our first @horsenburger #teletext piece of the day: the album art to #BelaLugosisDead by #Bauhaus - a still from D.W. Griffith’s film The Sorrows of Satan. There are so many hot Horsenburger pieces to choose from (over 80 horrific pieces in the new Halloween-themed MIST1017 artpack collection) it’s very difficult to pick one, but this is an interesting foreshadowing of something you’ll be seeing in our upcoming MIST1117 23rd anniversary artpack next month - he takes on a record store’s worth of classic album sleeve artwork, wearing them down until they submit to his masterful teletextification. You’ll see! http://ift.tt/2yNzumx
