 Mistigram: this nifty-galifty portrait (and logo!) of the puppet #XtheOwl from #MrRogersNeighborhood was drawn by Kirkman and placed 5th in the 2025 #ATASCII art compo of #textmode art for Atari 8-bit computers. It was also included in last month's unthemed MIST0226 artpack collection.

MIST0525/US-BALOK

Mistigram: this unforgettable scene of #ClintHoward as #Balok from the 1966 #StarTrek episode #TheCorbomiteManeuver was drawn in #ANSIart by @kirkman and LDA with the (unfulfilled) intention of submitting to the LayerOne compo.  Instead it was included in the new science fiction-themed MIST0525 artpack collection. 

IGNITE01/KM-8CALV

 Mistigram: though we mostly focus on releasing science fiction-themed art in May, due to the interests of its mastermind, @kirkman, who provided most of its showpieces, there was quite a bit of it in the IGNITE01 collection of multimedia #AtariST #IGS (#InstantGraphicsAndSound) works we shared last year on New Year's Eve. Because scientific progress goes "boink", this one is a tribute to Bill Watterson's beloved #CalvinAndHobbes comic strip.

Mistigram: If you weren't around while its brand was a big league going concern, it is perhaps impossible to fully appreciate the stranglehold that the appearance of George Opperman's #Fuji logo for #Atari could establish on a young mind, living on rent-free for decades as a retrofuturistic visual shibboleth of sorts.  It flies a colour-cycling flag here for the #AtariST home computer platform whose BBSes the #IGS (or #InstantGraphicsAndSound) multimedia format was designed for use on.  IGS archaeologist @Kirkman drew this animated image for inclusion in the new IGNITE01 artpack collection of modern IGS screens that he spearheaded.

Today on Mistigram, this ANSI art logo by Whazzit capped off his mermaid ANSImation with Kirkman in last year’s MIST1015 artpack. Previously I equated the blue with water but now I’m thinking it might be more the phosphorescence of jellyfish tentacles or electric eels, wriggling among the seaweed growing amongst the planks of a sunken vessel.
