Today on Mistigram, this humble Fone Bone ANSI by Babyface, which lingered through the whole dagblamed Mistigris World Tour of 1997 in an incomplete state until the heroic Quip rose to the occasion and finished it off with an abstract background (and a logo by Kleenex of Dark, omitted here) for release in March 1998, at which point it’d been in limbo for probably at least a year. Art: sometimes it needs to simmer on the back burner for a while! Now… who wants to take on Happyfish’s unfinished suite of Star Control 2 ANSIs?

Totoman (formerly Grinch) strikes back with another stab at outsider RIPscrip vector graphics! Though there are elements of abstraction all over this canvas, I always liked to believe that the central tangle was merely a deeply obfuscated Mist logo, rendered illegible in the best graffiti tradition… but I would be hard pressed to prove it!

This piece was originally released in our March 1998 artpack, but as you can see, it is eternally timeless.

Today on Mistigram, this piece of ANSI art by the unique Rash, first released in our March 1998 artpack. Elsewhere I described it as a Mist promo but actually it was an ad for the BBS “The Living End”. Rash brought with him an almost cubist sensibility to the ANSI medium that I’ve never seen before or since – I wish we could look him up and interview him, but with no idea what his real name is, that becomes nigh impossible!

Today on Mistigram: a rare contribution in the RIPscrip vector graphics format, this one was drawn by Grinch in March of 1998, long after any viable application one might have expected for the BBS enhanced display format.

The curious thing about the “Mistfunk” movement is that, unlike dA pHUNK, lacking a gold standard for mistfunkiness (mistfunkitude?), it could be whatever you thought it was. This is definitely … something. Funky? …I don’t know about that. Mistfunky? It must be, it says so itself!

Today’s liberated prisoner from the oubliette of time is this ANSI art Mist logo by Gasol, released in our March 1998 artpack – tiptoeing up to the edge, with textmode art at that point an increasingly rare breed. The logo is interesting for its close focus excluding the implied lower half of the S, and also for the use of yellow as a high-intensity highlight on white-coloured letters. This is a logo that’s telling us a story, I just don’t know what that story is.
