MIST0895/S!-COLLY8

Mistigram: this greyscale #ANSIart logo for the RAiD WHQ BBS Rise of the Midnight Sons, run by Pantera and named after a 1992 Ghost Rider plot arc, was drawn by Solinari and included in the MIST0895 artpack collection as part of a logocolly, released 31 years ago this month.

“It surrounds you… it consumes you…” Today on Mistigram, we have this vga hirez Mistigris promo purportedly drawn by our longtime VGA hirez (high resolution visual artwork) department head Grim Reaper. As he was sometime after the fact (hello, Google Image Search!) busted for plagiarising quite a great deal, it’s impossible to know for sure that it’s by him – but the rule of thumb is that this drawing probably wouldn’t have been rated awesome enough to be worth the risk of stealing, and so it probably is the genuine article. It’s… not bad, all things considered! The ‘90s were the era of Rob Liefeld anatomy, so this plucky dragon is in good company.

Today on Mistigram, another ANSI art Mist logo by Destro, minted circa August 1995. This was a standard, stock “type” of font that artists of the era would assemble when they needed words for a piece and didn’t have any particular ideas on a good fit or special style. It got the job done!

From August of 1995 comes this ANSI art Mist logo, another by Elysius… whose tenure with us was brief, but not without fruition! I don’t know what that luminous violet inset in the letters is supposed to be (whose style is utterly unknown and without precedent), but as my 4-year-old daughter will proudly tell you, purple is my favorite colour.

Today on Mistigram, another all-time contender for the “smallest complete Mistigris logo in textmode” award. This one was drawn by flash-in-the-pan Cue for Aggression and was released in our August 1995 artpack.

Further catchup from the “all-time Mistigris classics” gallery currently being served up at our new Instagram account, this is a work of RIPscrip vector art from guest artist Prisonernumberone, who briefly passed through Mistigris en route from the original Fire to ACiD. It appeared in MIST0895 and adapts a panel from Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s V For Vendetta (long before Anonymous was a germ in anyone’s eye… for that matter, originally (1988) published before quite a number of them would even have been born!)

The slogan was a lovely, if somewhat vague, sentiment.
