Mistigram: you might look at this #PETSCII vision and ask yourself “machine or monster?” but the beauty of @axltm’s design here is that you don’t have to choose, like in DooM, you can have it both ways! This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2uFUWu2

Mistigram: we’re almost here, @blippypixel! The title of this #BBCMicro hirez screen is “Spring morning”, and it nails the palette. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/3cmhyk8

Mistigram: working our way down the collaborative Moebius #ANSIart joint, I expect (I don’t know, call it a feeling) that this section was all @Polyducks after the previous collaborators had drifted off but the new crop of them hadn’t shown up yet. The calm before the Pokémon storm, if you will. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2VCAxkR
Mistigram: this #PETSCII-fuelled @axltm monster is a genuine adaptation of a character from the very real #leyendasdelapatagonia action figure line. Perhaps this will be a two-way street! This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2VHthnR
Mistigram: something a little pixelly, a little teletexty, a lot abstract out of the @blippypixel catalogue. I like comparing it to a series of I Ching castings. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/32ym22S
Mistigram:here’s another charmingly impossible @pixelartfortheheart #pixelart landscape, containing a small cabin and the beautiful and perplexing double moon. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2T9d09k
Mistigram: this perfect pink #pixelart #cupcake was drawn by @8bit_poet and included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2Tja1dm
Mistigram: here’s another #ANSIart piece by @theoddfirecat, concept art for an action-packed video game level full of imaging bloom and especially particle effects! This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/398D4H4

Mistigram: @axltm stepped up the violence merely implied in his #PETSCII-patterned character designs, here parading around a decapitated head. Fatality! This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2Vrx8VL
Mistigram: this newschool #ASCIIart logo, reading “Psilocybin”, was drawn by Publius Emeritus II and included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2PKyWWr

Mistigram: this moonlit #pixelart scene of deliciously plummy ruins was drawn by @pixelartfortheheart and included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2wNfTE1
Mistigram: this month’s big Moebius networked #ANSIart session progressed to this swordsman by @joel.borjel, which took on a distinctly #kabuki flavour as LDA and @Polyducks built it up. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2PpWBLB
Mistigram: if you like your sunsets colourful, you can’t beat this #BBCMicro hirez balcony view by @blippypixel. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/3cdv9tY
Mistigram: here’s another monochrome (well it WAS, thanks for nothing JPG compression!) dithered forest scene by @1bitwonder, but this time it seems the odds are more on the side of the woodlands peoples. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2VnixuE
Mistigram: this dope #ANSIart #logo for the legendary #Fairlight #C64 crew was drawn by j33p33 and shaded by @joel.borjel. It was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2HRURXa
Mistigram: if we’d realised what we were sitting on here, we could have run this glitchy manipulation of the #VenusDeMilo in last month’s artpack! But it is good here as well. This piece, entitled “R3-3N7RY”, was made by @192.168.10.13 and included in this month’s MIST0220 collection. https://ift.tt/2w04RuN

Mistigram: be it fish or be it reptile? Really this #PETSCII-inspired character design by @axltm puts me most in mind of a deep cut from the 1996 album Dr. Octagon, #halfsharkalligatorhalfman. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/32B2nPX
Mistigram: @BlippyPixel has a very different way of drawing a landscape, using dithering to imply alllll the shades of colour. This #BBCMicro hirez piece, entitled “Viaduct”, was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/3a2RAAw
Mistigram: here is a very characteristic pastoral meadow scene drawn in #pixelart by @pixelartfortheheart, naturally. What can I say, other than that his cardiac fitness is obviously in prime condition? This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/3bXUVlY
Mistigram: @theoddfirecat has recently jumped into #ANSIart production with both feet. Here is a specimen of their work! This bombastic piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/3c42tnb

Mistigram: @epimundo is a vlogger from Argentina who has been covering the vintage computing and underground computer art beats for a few months now, including joyfully reviewing recent Mistigris artpacks for the benefit of potential fans in the Spanish-speaking corners of the Internet. In deference to his granting us the spotlight, LDA drew this #ANSIart scroller celebrating his triumph over the beat, conquering the summit of a gigantic #Commodore monitor. Epimundo’s review of this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection, in which this piece was released, can be found at https://youtu.be/mUKplp8H3w0https://ift.tt/3c1qjjJ
Mistigram: the stock #CGA palette gets a bad rap, when you see what was possible to achieve under its limitations by an artist who harnessed the capabilities in a strategic way. This dim room is actually #BBCMicro hirez by @blippypixel - targeting a different machine with even more stringent frailties, but decades down the line he still finds a way to get a lot of life out of it. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2vY1nZC

Mistigram: OK, all this love and romancing is exhausting! Time to hang out in sweatpants, have leftovers for breakfast and enjoy some excellent art that happens to not be particularly seasonal. This is a spooky monochrome forest scene by @1bitwonder, a picture that, with possibly fewer than a thousand pixels, manages to say more than a thousand words. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2HOBaQ5
They got off to a good start. From Ada Lovelace to Wendy Carlos, Susan Kare to Dani Bunten Berry, to Avril Harrison, Ebony Eyes and jgs, women were in on the ground floor of computing, defining its aesthetic and challenging the rest of us to keep up.
Despite our attempts to set a good example in the ‘90s, the underground computer artscene has not traditionally been a welcoming place for women artists. We tried to redress this to some extent by offering up the world’s first all-women underground computer art collection for IWD 2019, but we still find ourselves somehow continuing to fail to be awash in the creative products of women while digital oases elsewhere bloom and thrive through their involvement. As pointedly demonstrated by knee-jerk criticism of our undertaking last year… there is still much further work to be done here.
For the month of March 2020, we aim to exclusively showcase the works of women creators, casting the spotlight on their creations across all our social network megaphones. Pixel and textmode artists, musicians, painters, illustrators, textile artists and crafters; we don’t care what genre or medium you work in – we just want to share the best of your output with our audiences (a thousand here, a thousand there… it adds up!) and encourage them to follow you to stay current with your future creative undertakings.
Here’s what we ask of you: no later than Friday, March 6th, please send us high-quality samples of work from your portfolio or back catalogue that you would like for us to signal boost, along with a brief bio blurb about your art practice and any relevant social media URLs for us to direct traffic to, through our e-mail account at info@mistigris.org. All rights remain with the artist and we will not be monetizing any of the work that passes through our organization.
If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to look us up.
(Gentlemen, fear not, your genius will be back on full display for our April Fool’s artpack, showcasing the best of terrible art and the worst of wonderful art.)
Mistigram: as Gertrude Stein put it, “a rose is a rose is a #rose”, and I see no reason why introducing @ty.p0’s typewriter into the middle of things should change any of that. Would a rose drawn in any other textmode characters smell as sweet? This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2T8mLn5
Mistigram: as the old French expression has it, “Vive la difference!” Some differences are more different than others however. This @starstew drawing is entitled “My Heart Is Made of Salted Caramel”, and it was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/37R2982
Mistigram: this single-panel emoji/#ASCIIart comic strip by @xtcomics takes a good look at the effect having a baby can have on the love life of an adult couple. This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/39XKOvR
Mistigram: @pix_emme has found a way to shortcut to all the good stuff and bypass the mess and heartbreak. This #popart-inspired #pixelart scene appeared in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/32dv8lt

Mistigram: here we go, the natural conclusion of the line of abstraction followed by @the_mythical_man in his series of drawings of the same nude, standing. It’s practically a glyph at this point! This piece was included in this month’s MIST0220 artpack collection. https://ift.tt/2HFFWz4
