Mistigram: this fabulous coloured #ASCIIart / #ANSIart vignette from the fairy tale #JackAndTheBeanstalk was drawn by Mozz and included in the MIST-30 30th anniversary artpack collection released slightly over a year ago. (Another beanstalk scene was included in IMBIBE01!)

MIST-30/MEMORIES

FOS-0197/US-LOGO7

Mistigram: this #ANSIart logo represents the handiwork of two artists, Neophyte and "ds" who I'm going to interpret here as Dead Soul. I don't know what eb was but EB ("Electronic Boutique") Games was a going concern here in 1997 so I'm going to retroactively assign it to them. It was included in the Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

FOS-0197/PZ-029711

Mistigram: apparently drawn for the second version of our own application generator, this newschool #ASCIIart logo was drawn by Plastic and intended to be shown to applicants hoping to release similar work with us. This piece was released in our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

Mistigram: Platinum drew this (freshly-squeezed) #ANSIart logo in promotion of Wishbringer's BBS "Juice". It was included in the Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

FOS-0197/US-LOGO1

Mistigram: this very green #ANSIart logo in promotion of Splatt's BBS "Fall From Grace" was drawn as a joint effort between Neophyte and "ps" in our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

FOS-0197/PZ-029712

Mistigram: this somewhat abstract rosy newschool #ASCIIart promo for the second issue of Quip's "Omlette" e-mag (electronic magazine) was drawn by plaZtik and included with our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

FOS-0197/US-LOGO6

Mistigram: this colourful "stained glass over cobblestones" #ANSIart logo for brothers Kestrel and Wetworks' Legion of Knights BBS was drawn by Cereal Killer and included in our FOS-0197 Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel 29 years ago this month!

DARK0597/DS-05975

Mistigram: this monochrome newschool #ASCIIart logo, a single large S for Spoof also containing within its body all the other letters, was drawn by Dead Soul and included with our Mistigris World Tour stop with Dark Illustrated 29 years ago in the DARK0597 artpack collection.

FOS-0197/YT-COLLY3

Mistigram: this rubbery #ANSIart logo, drooping toward potential BBS menu use, was drawn for Deadlock by Neophyte, who despite marking it for release by Lazarus, saw fit to send it out into the world with our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel 29 years ago this month, in the FOS-0197 artpack collection.

FOS-0197/YT-COLLY18

Mistigram: From late 1996 through early 1997, the Acrylic Art Scene Newsletter delivered the breaking news, rumours and gossip about the affairs of the underground computer art scene on a weekly basis. This logo for it was drawn by Neophyte and released as part of our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection.

ARTDISK-/CHL_W1

Mistigram: only ever seen in the "best of Mistigris" floppy diskette digest distributed at a #LivingCloset variety show July 23, 1999 at the Church of Pointless Hysteria, here is an example of the impulsive "real-world art" practice that wound up exploding from Mistigris into #Hallucigenia in '98, #asemicwriting and imaginary semigraphics character sets inscribed by Mist weirdos with #sidewalkchalk on cobblestones at the Word on the Street festival at the central branch of the Vancouver Public Library, probably circa 1997. The fancy boot is Crowkeeper's, and the photo was very likely taken by Etana.

NOEL_GAMBOA/NOFIGHTS

Mistigram: this specimen from #ANSIart prehistory, a spin on #GeorgeHWBush's memorable 1988 Presidential campaign pledge (#ReadMyLipsNoNewTaxes), was drawn by ANSI innovator #NoelGamboa, presumably sometime in the late '80s or early '90s, to discourage drama on ANSI echomail discussion forums on networked BBSes. We included it in our 2019 NOEL_GAMBOA retrospective of his influential ANSI art career.

MIST1318/ERENETA-JAZZ_HANDS

Mistigram: at the end of 2018, we released a bonus collection of artist self-portraits. At that time Tim Ereneta practiced regular #MaskMonday selfies and consequently there were a lot of them available for us to share. This is one creative take from MIST1318 involving some folded card.

FOS-0197/PZ-0297b

Mistigram: as part of his spasm of insane productivity during the Mistigris World Tour, Plastic drew this newschool #ASCIIart logo for Rage's BBS Neosporin as part of our tour stop with the Fistful of Steel crew in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 29 years ago this month.

IGNITE01/WM-IIFNU

Mistigram: one year and five days ago, we nominally assisted Kirkman in releasing the improbable IGNITE01 artpack, featuring Instant Graphics & Sound multimedia screens for Atari ST BBS callers. One of its included artworks was this important disclaimer, designed by Weatherman115. Please be careful to ensure neural link headset compatibility before use!

FOS-0197/JG-COLM9

Mistigram: Twenty-nine years ago this month, the Mistigris World Tour was picking up a little momentum with our tour stop with the Fistful of Steel crew.  Jughead included this logo promoting Mavrik's BBS Daemon's Gate in the FOS-0197 artpack collection.

MIST0117/PHIL-MAINWARING-STARDOT_AVATAR critters

Mistigram: In an incredible, sprawling 70k animated GIF consisting of 254 basically #1bit monochrome screens Phil Mainwaring had drawn himself, mostly adaptations of the logos, mascots or slogans of vintage computing and technology companies, five of the designs featured these curious one-bit chimerae, part ant and part anteater. I can't place them, but we included them in that telephone book of a GIF in the MIST0117 artpack collection nine years ago this month.

mistfunk 2025 next nine

Mistigram: and because the bottom of the top nine are ranked so very near to the top of the following nine, here's one further set of your collective favorites of the posts we made last year! (Really we could do a dozen of these but then we wouldn't have any time remaining in which to make our regular posts.)

a mistfunk 2025 top 9

Mistigram: due to our wide-ranging social media practice, it is challenging to come up with a meaningful, authoritative list of the most well-received works we shared by creators in our community in a given calendar year. That said, (with a page of caveats,) here are some of the most-appreciated pieces by some of our most popular creators shared in 2025.
