Mistigram: knowing that #InternationalWomensDay loomed large on the horizon, this March we made special arrangements to catch up with our old school chum @delphinehennelly, who you may recall dominated a week of our programming this time last year with her MIST1117 paintings of wild wired women who don’t gaf about acting #unladylike. (if you forget, go back and take another look, it’s worthwhile.) In the MIST0318 artpack we included late-breaking works in that series - this is the first of them, “All A Haze”, wherein a woman, like the cover girl on Kate Beaton’s “Step Aside, Pops!”, defiantly undertakes a traditionally (and arbitrarily) masculine undertaking - the carefree consumption of stanky, fuming cigarettes - with one sassy eye peering out to lock gazes, as if challenging the viewer to pick a fight with her pleasure. No, she’s not using then to suppress her appetite, but f you very much for asking. http://ift.tt/2Db7dVm
