Mistigram: looking for quick and dirty ideas with which to populate our wintery MIST1221 artpack collection, Tundra proposed the old gag of “a polar bear making a snowstorm in a blizzard”, ie a completely blank white canvas. But Cthulu can never settle for the easy gag when he could make it hard, so using a white-on-white variation of the old underground “black on black” tradition for concealing signatures and greets invisibly within the body of an #ANSIart screen, he hid a polar bear assembling his snowman behind his blizzard, here revealed for your delight. Enjoy!

Mistigram: getting a little meta on you – Cthulu just won’t leave well enough alone! Some of our most popular posts on social media historically have been mosaics of #Lego #pixelart, because you reach a lot of brick fans using that hashtag. But despite some obvious similarities between the mediums, many of the #ANSIart purists from our core constituency believe rather firmly that such forms of creative expression have no place in an underground computer artpack. (It’s only due to a lack of access to good digital cameras that we weren’t doing it back in 1998, but that’s neither here nor there.) Anyhow, here our muddled curator satisfies nobody by nodding to the little irritants that make us who we are, imagining a Christmas adaptation of a #SuperMarioBros3 sprite – Mario riding the best power-up of the entire series, #KuribosShoe – into Lego form, and then sharing it to wide acclaim on Instagram… all rendered in ANSI art! Mistigram: our new MIST1221 artpack collection was carefully calibrated (for once) to uphold the new textiness ratio at the @sixteen_colors gallery, but upon learning that the FILE_ID.DIZ was not included in the calculation we unexpectedly found ourselves a little short. LDA came swooping in at the last minute with this sentimental #ANSIart screen he happened to have in his back pocket, portraying an intensely seasonal scene I hope many of you out there will be reproducing tonight, stockings hung by the chimney with care. (Just make sure to put out the fire when you’re done to make it a little easier for Santa to come in!) It tipped us over the bar by the slimmest of margins and so the patrons of the 16c website can enjoy our sendoff to 2021 without having to rummage around in the weeds looking for it.
