Today on Mistigram, the painting “Dance U” by...

Today on Mistigram, the painting “Dance U” by @delphinehennelly in honor of #internationalwomensday ♀, released in our MIST1116 22nd anniversary artpack collection.

The presentation here is striking, soft women’s bodies in gentle pastel colours, strategically posed to minimize elements titillating to the male gaze, while the subjects are themselves preoccupied in capturing their own images for their own purposes, enshrined as painted by a woman. Paintings can’t talk, but I bet if this one could it would pass the Bechtel test.
You’ve seen a couple of Delphine’s paintings from this smartphones-and-selfies series on Mistigram before, but as there are seven more we’ve been waiting for a chance to showcase, we’ll be celebrating IWD with them for a full week! The computer artscene, to say nothing of the wider art world (and indeed, the world at large) is an intensely dudely place, stunk up with the hobbies and preoccupations of boys and men, and while Mistigris have done our best to court, cater to and champion refreshing new approaches and perspectives from our emissaries from the “other” world of women, with (by some metrics) greater female participation than in the rest of the scene cumulatively… there’s still a long way to go. http://ift.tt/2n6vxkP
