Mistigram: we released this wireframe-y @starstew illustration, “Watcherback”, one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F1C64H

Mistigram: we released this wireframe-y @starstew illustration, “Watcherback”, one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F1C64H
Mistigram: Dead Soul drew an #asciiart portrait of an #Archie-style girl (perhaps even #VeronicaLodge, if not then surely some other #Riverdale teen in high #DanDeCarlo style) 20 years ago this month in the M-9802 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2GSkNPX
Mistigram: this untitled kaleidoscopic flight of fancy is the product of @daniellonglegs and was released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. We internally gave it the title “Wired”, in honor of the colour palette excesses of the ‘90s run of that digital culture magazine. http://ift.tt/2HNqmjM
Mistigram: from the M-9802 artpack collection released 20 years ago this month, here’s an ANSI-colored newschool #ASCIIart logo for the BBS Token, drawn by Biftek. http://ift.tt/2CnMAtn
Mistigram: this toony lion is the central detail from a taller #ANSIart scroller advertising Kwest BBS, a joint (collaboration) between Maeve Wolf (now @dashsharon) and Warhammer, released 22 years ago this month in the MIST0296 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F0JPM3
Mistigram: when you feel like lending your low-resolution textmode artform some legitimacy, you can borrow some by adapting boxy works from the canon of the painterly fine arts. Mondrian’s abstracts are obvious picks - this one is less well known but plainly crying out for TeletextR’s #teletext treatment. His manual conversion of #LouiseLoeber’s 1946 painting #ManNearHeating was released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection.
Mistigram: Onyx was a computer art polymaths, not only minting tracker music by the pound, but keeping up a prolific sideline in anime-influenced pixelart. (and inventing an RPG ruleset. And… so many other fields besides.) Today, he writes dystopian SF ebooks. But circa M-9802, 20 years ago, he was drawing, among other subjects, angelic security guards. (The lens flare should convince you of its authentic ‘90s credentials.) http://ift.tt/2sYtDtf
Mistigram: every BBS has its apex and from the looks of things, the Neon Jesus’ heyday was during MIST0296, as indicated by this #ANSIart UFO and logo by its SysOp Praxus. #ThatsNotHowIWouldDrawAJ http://ift.tt/2ES3v8R
Mistigram: British sci-fi sitcom #RedDwarf turns 30 this year, so why not celebrate with this @horsenburger #teletext portrait of #RobertLlewellyn as #Kryten the mechanoid? This screen was released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2FwuK6j
Mistigram: while we’re talking logos, why not this #ANSIart “C” drawn for “Cystic Prophecy” (‘90s BBS names, responsible for putting together Googlewhack word combinations that had never been made before or since!) by Mr. Wrong. This was released in the M-9802 artpack collection 20 years ago this month. http://ift.tt/2owGMV3
Mistigram: yesterday you got to enjoy Kurama’s #ASCIIart illustration advertising the BBS “Hole”, and here’s the logo that went with it. From the MIST0296 artpack collection 22 years ago this month. http://ift.tt/2oxcHEI
Mistigram: from the MIST0296 artpack 22 years ago this month, here’s a piece of #ASCIIart by Kurama, some sinister mecha, the main part of an advertisement for a BBS charmingly named Hole. (Courtney Love fans?) http://ift.tt/2CGkiWF
Mistigram: from the M-9802 artpack 20 years ago this month, a close-up on the elfin #ANSIart subject of @hsifyppah’s ad for Shadow Dale. You’ll have to seek it out for yourself to enjoy the truly outsider logo and her riotous header. Described as “Happyfish discovers the color red.” http://ift.tt/2ChDSg1
Mistigram: and let’s wrap the week with this warm @dashsharon painting “The Telling Of Secrets”, released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2ET5k1e
Mistigram: another February archival selection, it’s a slice of Dead Soul #ASCIIart - an illustration of Rei Ayanami from #NeonGenesisEvangelion, released 20 years ago this month in the M-9802 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2HFVnGo
Mistigram: all right, with all that Valentine’s business behind us now, let us return to Mistigris artwork of Februaries past. This #NeonJesus #ANSIart logo by WetWorks, with its simple but complementary color scheme, caps off a brief logocolly in the MIST0296 artpack. At the time community standards dictated that these had to be bundled up together to keep them out of the way of taller ANSI illustrations, considered the only wholly legitimate artscene artform (and yet, still incomplete without a logo or three.) Free from the conventions of regular life, the anarcho-libertarian kids of the digital underground reproduced the hierarchical systems that excluded and oppressed them in the real world, how strange. … I mean - elite! http://ift.tt/2EPhiZO
Mistigram: and that’s just about a wrap for MIST0218! You forget after coming from sharing 3-5 pieces daily from artpacks containing literally hundreds of artworks that when you curate smaller collections to be timely, you can… reach the end of them! But I kind of get the feeling that we’re all just about done with Valentine’s by now, so we wouldn’t want the theme to overstay its welcome anyhow. This here is #pixelart of literally iconic proportions, your first Mistigris taste of the classic micro-compositions of @8bit_poet - and not incidentally the template from which the MIST0218 artpack’s FILE_ID.DIZ was adapted. How sweet it is! http://ift.tt/2sOl9EX
Mistigram: OK, one final MIST0218 @theresaoborn bunny for you (I believe she calls these “bunnit"s) - no ropes this time, just a little animation.
Mistigram: ah, now I’m sure you’ve never been so happy to see another run of the mill @theresaoborn rope bunny! It’s all in the context. It’s the final one in the sequence, all released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. I’d say that its pose looks a little awkward and uncomfortable but I’m sure that’s the entire point! http://ift.tt/2CzA1Xz
Mistigram: OK, we’ve just about recovered from that sexy skullfa– holy crap, there’s another one, and it’s a picketty tripod! OK, sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, so here’s another @theresaoborn piece from the recent MIST0218 artpack collection… an “Incubus” sculpture with a most ingenious rigging for maintaining its balance! http://ift.tt/2BGOZy5
Mistigram: getting tired of bunnies yet? A little too vanilla, perhaps cliche, for your tastes? Turns out they’re not the only variety of hot-blooded fleshy creatures that can be strung up in rope suspension! This piece from the recent MIST0218 artpack also serves as a reminder that while @theresaoborn’s creative contributions most substantially underwrote this Valentine’s Day collection, the pre-eminent holiday in her black little heart is and always will be Hallowe'en. http://ift.tt/2ol2FGG
Mistigram: the conclusion to this morning’s thrilling cliffhanger - well after the MIST0218 memberlist had finished scrolling through its interminable potted bios and portfolio links and all that gawking lot (you know how to attract a crowd, just write a long infofile, amirite?) finally cleared out, ldb’s #ASCIIart stickpeople were finally granted the modicum of privacy needed to pitch some woo. (PS dude, rocking the “nothing but tube socks” style is not a good look for a full grown man!) I don’t think we ever achieved consensus regarding just what she’s holding in her hand, but I look forward to your most entertaining guesses. http://ift.tt/2EWQA56
Mistigram: when I was a child with pet rabbits we were told on no uncertain terms to NEVER pick them up by their ears. So I guess what I’m saying is that I hope that @theresaoborn didn’t draw that particular loop as a load-bearing knot. This rope bunny appeared in the recent lusty MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2EVSEtV
Mistigram: ldb drew this loving little #ASCIIart couple with the heart balloon for Valentine’s, then Cthulu colored them and made the perhaps dubious curatorial decision to put them atop the memberlist for our recent MIST0218 artpack collection, followed by a dozen-odd bios of contributing artists. What, you’ve never gone on what you hoped would be a discreet little date at a romantic private location known only to few, only to find you’ve wound up at the site of a full-blown orgy? Yelp will be hearing about this, let me tell you… http://ift.tt/2BCyrHz
Mistigram: if you’re tired of all that glorious smut, here’s its diametric opposite - an abstract @kalchano #Shift_JIS illustration exploring the philosophical #Schopenhauer underpinnings of the romance portrayed in the #RichardWagner opera #TristanUndIsolde, released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. (Oh, what’s that, you say you’re ready for some more light bondage?) http://ift.tt/2C8SI8D
Mistigram: another day, another one of @theresaoborn’s #bondage rope bunnies from the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. Don’t worry (or alternately, sorry to disappoint, BUT), this foray into #kink and sexually is a function of the love / lust theme of our recent Valentine’s day collection and, for better or worse, dirty #furry drawings aren’t part of our year-round repertoire. But there’s no point in making a series of drawings about bunnies if there aren’t, y'know, a LOT of them! http://ift.tt/2ECs9ua
Mistigram: there is a famous expression often misattributed to Gandhi - “first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” apparently we are further along in our schedule for world domination than I’d expected as we have found ourself situated somewhere between steps 2 and 3 courtesy of a new joke artpack by “Mistergirls”, which you can find at http://ift.tt/2HsSety
We take no credit for it - indeed, we can’t even presume to explain it - but it is nonetheless a distinct Mistigris curiosity. A boring mystery, as I like to say. Doubtless something has been lost in translation. http://ift.tt/2GrtD70
Mistigram: OK, things are getting a little more explicit now, you just might be ready for @kalchano’s #KamaSutra #Shift_JIS piece from the lusty end of the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2C7Kkq5
Mistigram: we hope you liked @theresaoborn’s #bondage rope bunny, since… there’s a whole suite of them, all released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection! (There was an actual print run but they all sold out - but if the artist was faced with overwhelming demand, she just might be persuaded to reissue them!) http://ift.tt/2FbVKYo
Mistigram: these colorized #ASCIIart drawings of a heart-shaped box of chocolates, a teddy bear and flowers - a Valentine’s hat-trick - were drawn by ldb and released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F9oIrO
Mistigram: this “Hot Doodle” by @theresaoborn, from the recent MIST0218 artpack collection, is more or less exactly as billed. http://ift.tt/2Fa8FtS
Mistigram: in this #Shift_JIS illustration from the recent MIST0218 artpack collection, @kalchano celebrates libations and their ability to loosen lips and lower inhibitions. http://ift.tt/2FaJxmR
Mistigram: OK, it’s time to just own up to having succumbed to the furries today and move forward. This drawing is third in a series of #bondage “rope bunnies” by @theresaoborn (at least this time I’m reasonably confident that this drawing is by, rather than OF, her 8) exploring themes of #shibari. These were released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection and gosh (loosens collar) I hope that our posting them doesn’t violate any “adult content” terms of service agreements! http://ift.tt/2C53LQl
Mistigram: va-va-va-voom! Apparently #SpongeBobSquarepants approves of Octotendy. This #teletext screen was drawn by @horsenburger and also released a year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2HnYHWC
Mistigram: “pardon me, but was that a romantic Valentine’s cat you posted earlier?” “Well yes, but…” “I’ll see your love cat and raise you an octopus!”… which brings us to @pinguinokolb’s “Octotendy” drawing, released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. (I was hoping no one would categorize Cthulu as a fursona!) http://ift.tt/2F95Vx0
Mistigram: speaking of the diverse varieties of love, it would be remiss of us to overlook this unique piece of #HaroldAndMaude #teletext fanart by @horsenburger, also from MIST0218. http://ift.tt/2C0rNvT
Mistigram: there are many different kinds of love of course - @cookieheart_ enshrines one variety in this #pixelart piece entitled “Welcome to our family”, released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2FbWgG5
Mistigram: Time for a little more #pixelart courtesy of @8bitbaba, taking on the romantic 1995 Bollywood blockbuster #Rangeela. http://ift.tt/2GfJaXn
Mistigram: granted, there is nothing inherently romantic about a depiction of a naked lady - after all, every woman you know is concealing one beneath her clothes at all times! All the same, if ever we had an artpack with a theme appropriate to the sharing of (sporadically) tasteful nudes, MIST0218 probably was it. This one (hm, come to think of it, most of them!) was drawn by @theresaoborn. http://ift.tt/2o1zo4m
Mistigram: and surely you saw it leading the MIST0218 teaser trailer, but if not here you go, we gently animated @kalchano’s tres ‘90s suite of still #Shift_JIS images to tell the tale of a lonely man and the low-resolution nude pictures he slowly downloaded.
Mistigram: and now, a little something for the ladies! This piece, which we called “Seduction”, was released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2Gib6tV
Mistigram: for everyone who struck out last night, at least you had the Plan B recourse of racy adult chatlines. This #teletext screen was drawn by @jellica_______ (who is aware of the misspelling - that’s just what you get typing one handed in a hurry) and released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F5NhWD
Mistigram: and a different kind of classic, this #Invader by @cookieheart_, just released in the new MIST0218 artpack collection, first put her on our radar. http://ift.tt/2C0zSAL
Mistigram: Hollywood hasn’t yet managed to sell us on the sensuality of vaping, but as long as we have art we can remember the old ways. “Smoke”, by @the_mythical_man, released in the new MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2Ep8wl3
Mistigram: and as though reiterating the rainbow themes underlying the previous post, this #teletext kiss by @jellica_______, by naming the colored buttons on a teletext remote control (suggesting this screen is one hot game prototype!), advances the notion that people of all creeds, orientations, gender expressions, and yes, colors (even the cyan folk!) are deserving of love and intimacy.
This screen was released in the recent MIST0218 artpack collection. http://ift.tt/2F4ETqx
Mistigram: this ruby heart, “Love Is Love”, was painted by @casaquixote just about a year ago, and has just found artpack release in the new MIST0218 collection. http://ift.tt/2EF0vvJ
Mistigram: Bart’s friend #Milhouse from #TheSimpsons gets flirty in this natively-animating #teletext screen by @ZXguesser, released in the new MIST0218 artpack collection.
Mistigram: and because we’re on a #TheSimpsons roll, here’s a @carlos_teletextr #Valentine’s #teletext screen of #RalphWiggum released one year ago in the MIST0217 artpack collection. #ichoochoochooseyou http://ift.tt/2Hhi1Vy
