Mistigram: Not every @delphinehennelly painting is as easy to interpret. “You Get Everything You Want” rings out in razzle dazzle like a Broadway marquee, a slogan like one Oprah might make: “a national childcare plan for you! And for you!” Well I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. The proclamation is made like buried treasures deep below strata of boulders and rubble, like gold or diamonds. Is the lady buried deep underground also, cavorting in the subterranean grotto of wish fulfillment? (file that metaphor for later reuse.) And is she getting good wifi reception while she’s down there? Really it raises more questions than it answers, and that’s not even taking into account… the hat. So probably we will get more out of this if we backpedal from the particulars of the painting and return to the overarching theme of what women want. It’s #InternationalWomensDay, can’t we try to give it to them for just one day, give it a trial and see how it works out?
