Mistigram: Publius Emeritus II emerged from #ASCIIart retirement...

Mistigram: Publius Emeritus II emerged from #ASCIIart retirement for our MIST1014 20th anniversary reunion artpack four years ago but hasn’t been seen much since… until now. During the run-up to this month’s MIST1118 collection he appeared, asking some pointed questions about the nodelist of KiTSCHNet, the FidoNet-style echomail network that served Mistigris-affiliated BBSes back in the ‘90s, allowing members of different bulletin board services to partake in slow shared conversations without everyone having to dial in to a shared central hub. (Instead the BBSes themselves would automatically call home and sync up with the mothership every morning at 1 am.) Many great and curious conversations took place between far-flung individuals across this network, and in addition to helping coordinate internal group affairs, many conversations conducted there (eg. “ASCII Wars”) wound up immortalized in issues of our house e-mag Kithe. But as of press time they have nearly all been dead nodes for at least 20 years. (Don’t despair, Max Mouse is hoping to open Lush BBS in the new year, and who knows what may follow!) https://ift.tt/2r0DAme
